NewStarts Charity New Start
Posted January 10 2012OVERVIEW
Trills recently completed an altruistic venture for Bromsgrove based charity NewStarts. NewStarts charity provides furniture and electrical appliances at low cost to the general public, or no cost to families and individuals in genuine need.
Due to the successful work and steady growth of NewStarts, it was decided in 2011 a move to larger premises was required. Upon securing the premises on Sherwood Road, NewStarts, who work closely with Bromsgrove District Council, approached them to ask their advice on a suitable contractor who would be able to help them with the fit-out. As Trills have successfully undertaken projects for Bromsgrove District Council in the past, they were happy to recommend Trills Services to NewStarts.
Bromsgrove based Trills have 23 years experience in refurbishment across all industry sectors and understanding that charities funds are limited, Trills were happy to donate some of the required materials from stock to help NewStarts in reducing the overall cost of the project. The main element of the project was to partition a section of the building to create ‘A Furniture Repair Workshop’. This was to be used to train unemployed people, thus enabling the charity to increase their capacity to reuse the donated furniture. The secondary impact from the creation of this workshop, as well as giving something back to the local community in the way of training, means that fewer items will be sent to landfill.
Full marks go to both Trills and NewStarts in helping both the local community and the environment to this end!
